[Satake] The Half-Life of a Man Who Became a Woman in Junior High

A junior high student, now a woman, confronts the bewildering shift from her former male self while juggling everyday life and the lingering echo of a forgotten penis. She balances flirtatious office banter, a playful claim of being the best girl, and a painful truth that her daughter’s absent father once abandoned them, leaving her to wonder if she ever truly left that past behind. The narrative weaves humor and melancholy, inviting readers to explore the tension between identity, memory, and the half‑life of a gender‑changed existence.
