[Rinri ga Nai (Yumikichi)] Oyako Shikkaku | Failed Fatherhood

A widowed, eyepatched occupation soldier confronts his traumatized daughter after her mother’s death and a disaster-ravaged world, her halting confession—“I came into this world as the child of a prostitute and an occupation soldier”—giving their strained family bond an uneasy foundation. When she pleads, “I love you so much,” and he answers with promises of care, affection, dependence, and inherited social taboo pull the story toward a stark homecoming shaped by grief and control. Stark monochrome art, anguished close-ups, and dialogue about savings, survival, and what she should become turn their reunion into a bleak family tragedy shadowed by fear and looming death.
